March 30 - "Surviving the storm: Are you ready for an emergency?"

Dr. Billeter earned her Bachelors in Pharmacy and Doctor of Pharmacy from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.  She completed a Residency in Clinical Pharmacy and Fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the A.B. Chandler Medical Center at the University of Kentucky.  Dr. Billeter is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist with Added Qualifications in Infectious Diseases. 

Dr. Billeter started her career on the faculty at Xavier University of Louisiana College of Pharmacy, where she was awarded tenure.  After seven years on Xavier’s faculty she moved to Shenandoah University School of Pharmacy in Winchester, Virginia.  As one of the first non-administrative faculty she helped build the program in a new school of pharmacy.  Marianne returned to clinical practice full time as the Infectious Diseases Pharmacist at Ochsner, where she was integrally involved in patient care activities, monitoring of antimicrobial use, guideline development, and infection control.  She was promoted to Manager, Clinical Pharmacy Services and four years later was promoted to Director of Pharmacy. Currently Dr. Billeter is Director of Pharmacy at a 500+ bed, non-academic affiliated medical center.  She has responsibility for the Hospital pharmacy operations, two chemotherapy infusion pharmacies, extensive clinical pharmacy programs, pharmacy practice residency, retail pharmacy operations, and ambulatory pharmacy services to 40 health centers throughout southeast Louisiana.

Dr. Billeter has been actively involved with ASHP serving on the Commission on Therapeutics and the executive committee of the Section of Clinical Specialist and Scientists as a director-at-large and as the Chair of the Section.  Dr. Billeter has also been active in other organizations, serving as a Director-at-Large of the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacist, on the Grand Council of Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, and as a non-specialist member of the BPS Oncology Specialty Council.
