Class of 1958 Reunion - April 11-13, 2008

The Purdue Pharmacy Class of 1958 returned to campus on April 11th thru the 13th for the 50th Class Reunion! Seventeen class members along with their spouses attended a reception on Friday evening. Everyone was greeted by Dr. Patrick Belcastro and his wife, Hannah, and Dean Craig Svensson and his wife, Sue. Old photos from 1958 were on display at the reception. APhA Meeting Reception - March 16, 2008

On March 16th, the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences held its annual Alumni and Friends reception at the APhA meetings in San Diego, California. Over sixty alumni and friends of the School attended the reception including former faculty Nick Popovich and George Spratto. ASHP Meeting Reception - December 2, 2007

The Venetian in Las Vegas, Nevada was the setting for the annual Purdue Pharmacy Alumni and Friends reception at the ASHP mid-year meeting. Over 200 alumni and friends of the Purdue School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences attended the reception. Dean Craig Svensson welcomed everyone and gave a brief School update. Graduate Student Awards Symposium - November 8, 2007

The annual School of Pharmacy Graduate Student Awards Symposium took place at 3:45 PM in the West Faculty Lounge of the Purdue Memorial Union. A large number of faculty and graduate students attended. The ceremony began with the awarding of the Kienly Awards for outstanding graduate student teaching, which were followed by the Jenkins/Knevel Awards for excellence in research. read more

Pharmacy Days is a highly focused series of events for Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences students and employers. The Career Fair is open to pre-Pharmacy, pre-BSPS, BSPS, and Pharmacy students, allowing them to access employment information for internships, residencies, full-time positions, and career exploration. Distinguished Alumni Day - November 2, 2007

The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences recognized five Distinguished Alumni and a Friend of Pharmacy on November 2, 2007 on the stage at Elliott Hall of Music. On Friday, October 26, 2007, the first annual Pharmacy Student and Alumni Chili supper was held! The Pharmacy Alumni Association sponsored the chili supper the evening before the Purdue Homecoming for two hundred pharmacy alumni and students. Class of 1997 and 2002 Reunion - October 5-6, 2007

The Pharmacy Classes of 1997 and 2002 visited the West Lafayette campus on October 5 and 6, 2007. The reunion events included a tour of the Purdue Campus as well as a Pharmacy Back to Class on Medication Safety. The reunion attendees enjoyed getting reacquainted at a reception on Friday evening and a tailgate Saturday before the Purdue vs. Ohio State game. The 11^th annual BoileRx Golf Tournament was held on Thursday, May 17 at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex in West Lafayette. Over 120 golfers participated in the day, which dawned cool and damp. Class of 1957 Reunion - April 14-16, 2007

The Pharmacy Class of 1957 returned to campus on April 14^th for their 50^th Class reunion. The class was treated to two "Back to Class" presentations. Dr. Kim Plake reviewed her "Geriatrics game" with the group and Dr. Patrick Belcastro reviewed how things have changed over the last 50 years in Pharmacy. Snow Day - February 14, 2007

The Blizzard of February 2007 will now go down in history as the only the fifth time Purdue students have ever enjoyed a Snow Day! The first time Purdue EVER cancelled classes in its 109 year history was for two days during the Blizzard of January 1978. Since then the University was officially closed for only one day in each of the years of 1984, 1994, and 1999, all in the month of January. read more

Champs Bowl - December 29, 2006

On December 29th, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Health Sciences alumni met in Orlando for a wonderful brunch at the Rosen Plaza Hotel. CVS Lab Dedication - October 26, 2006

Purdue University's pharmacy program filled its latest prescription on Thursday, October 26 with the dedication of the new CVS Pharmacy Practice Lab. The 1,968-square-foot practice lab, located in the Robert E. Heine Pharmacy Building, is almost twice the size of the previous practice lab and offers the latest educational technology. Hook Student Lounge Dedication - October 25, 2006

Hook's stores were a common feature of the Indiana landscape for nearly a century. At its height, the chain operated over 350 drug stores. Greenhouse Demolition - September 28 - October 18, 2006

A moment of silence, please, in memory of the recently-demolished greenhouse on the side of the Heine Pharmacy Building. For many years, the greenhouse served as a source of herbal plants used in the study of pharmacognosy. As the focus of pharmaceutical studies shifted, the greenhouse was sadly neglected and had become an attractive nuisance for passersby. The glass panels had to be replaced on a regular basis although the greenhouse itself was no longer in use. read more...

Purdue University' School of Pharmacy held its White Coat Ceremony on Sunday, September 18, 2005 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the North and South Ballrooms of the Purdue Memorial Union. 9^th Annual BoileRx Golf Classic - May 19, 2005

It was dark and stormy the night before the 9^th Annual BoileRx Golf Outing. The skies were full of ominous clouds, sending down huge amounts of rain, along with the dreaded thunder and lightning of which canceled golf outings are made. As late as 8:30 that morning, it was still storming. But hearty souls began to trek out to the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex around 10:30, and the more who arrived, the clearer the skies became. read more...

Annual PharmD Poster Presentations - April 29, 2005

On Friday, April 29, the Pharm.D. Candidates presented their Pharm.D. projects in a poster session held in Stewart Center. This annual event allows interactions between students and viewers (faculty, staff and 3rd professional year students). This year was a resounding success, with 100% of the PharmD students participating.
