Family Day and Preceptor Appreciation Day - September 10, 2005

On Saturday, September 10, 2005 prior to the Purdue vs. Akron home football game, the School of Pharmacy hosted Family Day activities. Part of the celebration included recognition of students who have received academic excellence awards for the 2004 - 2005 and 2006 -2006 school years. Dean John Pezzuto congratulated the nearly 60 students who had achieved awards for Academic Excellence by carrying 4.0 GPAs. Also recognized were seven Dean's Scholars, eight Beginning Pre-Pharmacy Scholarship winners and ten 2nd year Pre-Pharmacy Scholarship winners, six National Merit Finalists and two members of the President's Leadership Class of 2005. Congratulations to all!

In conjunction with Family Day, the School of Pharmacy Department of Experiential Programs, led by Brian Shepler, Clinical Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice, hosted a tailgate party that recognized the Preceptors who offer so generously of their time and talents to mentor our Pharmacy Students. Preceptors and their families, along with faculty and staff, enjoyed the picnic served by Multicultural Program participants in the tent located just outside the Pharmacy building.

Multicultural Program participants invite tailgaters to step up and sample their delicious picnic fare.   Combining Family Weekend with the Preceptor Tailgate party led to a good time being had by all.
