Tyler Lectures - November 11-12, 2010

On November 11th and 12th, the College of Pharmacy held its 23rd Annual Varro E. Tyler Distinguished Lecture.  The college was pleased to have Richard B. Silverman, the John Evans Professor of Chemistry at Northwestern University as this year’s Distinguished Lecturer.  Dr. Silverman gave two presentations while on campus.  The first lecture, “Drug Discovery: Inguenuity or Serendipity?”, gave an interesting look at the discovery process for several drugs. The second lecture was titled “Selective Neuronal Nitric Oxide Synthase Inhibitors for the Prevention and Treatment of Neurodegenerative Diseases” and gave a glimpse at one of Dr. Silverman’s current research projects. A special thanks to the Department of Medicinal Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology for hosting Dr. Silverman during this visit.
