The College of Pharmacy dedicated its recently renovated displays in the Pharmacy lobby on Homecoming, October 22, 2011. Earlier this year, the Purdue University College of Pharmacy Class of 2011 began raising money for their class gift. The class, along with the generous matching gift of Dr. and Mrs. Robert L. Anderson, made the 2011 Class Gift Campaign very successful! It was the wish of the class to use the funds they raised to pay for an electronic display that would be housed in the Pharmacy building lobby.
It was the wish of the Class of 2011 to dedicate this electronic display in memory of their beloved professor, Dr. Stanley L. Hem. Dr. Hem passed away unexpectedly in January of this year, but he will forever be in the hearts of each student that his kindness and love of teaching touched. This electronic display will hopefully show everyone just how special Dr. Hem was to our College, faculty, alumni, and especially our students.
The Hem family as well as members of the Class of 2011 were on hand for the unveiling of the display. The display showcases a history of the college and faculty and staff directory and it also has photos from each pharmacy class, our donor lists, and much more. During the ceremony, Dean Craig Svensson thanked Dr. and Mrs. Anderson and the Class of 2011 for their generous spirit. Nick Sciacca, PharmD 2011 spoke on behalf of the class about the importance of Dr. Hem to the class, and how they hoped this electronic display would serve as a constant reminder of this wonderful man, teacher, and mentor.
