![]() Multicultural Programs - EventsIn addition to its ongoing programs, Multicultural Programs sponsors several events every year that are designed to benefit the program participatnts. Prominent among these are: Multicultural Day on CampusEvery June, new students in Multicultural Programs are invited to come to campus with their families. This event is designed to help new students make the transition from high school to university study. During their day on campus, students will have the opportunity to meet faculty and staff, learn university procedures, and enroll in courses for the fall semester. The entire family participates to begin building a community of students, family, and university staff. Pre-Semester ProgramStudents in Multicultural Programs are invited to come to campus eight days before classes begin in the fall. They move into the residence halls and begin preparations for their fall semester. Sessions are offered for each course taken in the fall, as well as additional sessions for resume writing, employment, and community-building activities. This program is geared towards Pre-Pharmacy students, new BSPS students, and students in the first year of the Professional Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program. Students are encouraged to make new friends, make connections, and continue building their learning community. Students make arrangements to have lunch with different faculty members, and also to dine together at different local restaurants in the evenings. Various social activities, such as movies and bowling, are also planned by the students. Multicultural Programs Awards LuncheonHeld each April towards the end of the academic year, the Multicultural Programs Awards Luncheon is eagerly awaited by the University community. This is an opportunity to applaud the accomplishments of the students in the program, and to acknowledge the contributions and support of our faculty, staff, and corporate sponsors. The luncheon is planned and executed by the students in the program, and features ethnic foods that reflect the cultures of the program participants. |
