Research Opportunities in the School of Pharmacy

Opportunities for Undergraduate Students

Undergraduates have an outstanding number of opportunities to obtain research experience in every program at Purdue University, and that is certainly true also for the research programs in the School of Pharmacy. Any interested student can seek an opportunity working in research projects in the school by directly contacting the professor(s) supervising the research project in which there is an interest. For a list of programs and faculty research interests, see "Research Programs".

If you need assistance in beginning this process, you can seek the advice of your classroom professors in the subject of your choice or you can contact Dr. Val Watts, the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Programs, who would be happy to help you with this. Your academic advisor also may be able to help you with this.

Research Internships in the BSPS Program are administered separately, and are open only to those students in the BSPS program. Such students should contact their faculty mentor about arranging a summer internship.

Several research fellowships for undergraduate research are available on a competitive basis to students enrolled in one of the Pharmacy School undergraduate programs. These include summer research fellowships as well as many other opportunities for interested students. These are administered by Dr. Val Watts, the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Programs.

Opportunities for Graduate Students

Only graduate students participating in Graduate Education Programs involving members of the School faculty are eligible to participate in research programs in the School.

Opportunities for Post-doctoral Researchers and Visiting Professors/Scientists

At the present time, the School does not have a centralized mechanism for posting position vacancies. Interested individual should contact the professor in whose research program they have an interest. Caution: Non-judicious use of email to send requests for employment to all the members of the faculty are usually ignored. Be Selective!
