Student Relations

Information for current students in need of assistance with academics

This page is intended to provide information about how students currently enrolled in our educational programs can seek assistance for various academic situations. Information also is available for students that also are employees about resolving employment-related problems.


Undergraduate and Professional Students

Academic problems with a specific course are best discussed with the instructor in charge of the course.

General academic difficulties are best discussed with your academic advisor in the Office of Student Services.

In case you are not able to resolve your difficulties with an instructor or with your advisor, contact the Associate Dean for Professional Programs.

If the Associate Dean cannot resolve your difficulty you may seek assistance from the the Dean of Students counseling office.

Incidents of harassment or discrimination should be reported immediately to the Associate Dean for Professional Programs. The University Office of the Vice-President of Human Relations provides information about the Purdue University Anti-Harassment policy and complaint procedures.


Graduate Students

Academic problems with a specific course are best discussed with the instructor in charge of the course.

General academic and research difficulties are best discussed with your primary/research advisor (if assigned) or, if not yet assigned, with your graduate program's advisory committee, the director of your graduate program, or department head.

In case you are not able to resolve your difficulties with an instructor or with your advisor, or in case you are considering changing major/research advisors, please contact head of your graduate program or department head.

In case you are not able to resolve your difficulties with the head of your graduate program, feel free to contact the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Programs.
