Mathes Pharmacy

This ambulatory care rotation focuses on diabetes care in the outpatient setting. Students prepare patient case presentations, lead follow-up appointments, assess insulin regimens, and participate in weekly diabetes education classes.  Students are also responsible for the daily operations and management of the diabetes center. In order to gain a realistic appreciation for this disease state, students are required to monitor their blood glucose, give themselves insulin injections, and wear insulin pumps.

Health, Law & Litigation

Cooper & Scully, PC is a mid-sized law firm with a substantial health care law and litigation practice, involving the defense of and consultation with pharmacies of varying sizes from the largest Fortune top 10 to small compounding pharmacies.  The student will serve as a fully functioning paralegal/legal assistant assisting attorneys in every phase of litigation and consulting.  The experience varies depending on the ongoing work at the time.  Students may attend depositions, hearings, mediations, trials, arbitrations, client meetings, etc.  Students will be required to execute firm-related paperwork to address HIPAA and other client-related confidentiality issues attendant to a law practice.

Legislative & Pharmacy Organizations

Students will have a unique opportunity to spend their entire rotation at the Indiana State House directly working with Indiana State Senators, Representatives and staff in the Governor's office; as well as spend time with the Executive Director of the Indiana Pharmacists Association.  Dr. Gloria Sachdev, Purdue faculty preceptor, will meet with students periodically throughout the rotation.
