Kristina Stoncius
Third-year Pharm.D. Student

Why are you a member of CDC?
I decided to apply to be a member of CDC because I have had many positive interactions at our Pharmacy Days Career Fair, and I wanted to ensure that future student attendees can feel the same way.
How long have you served on the CDC?
This year is my first year with the CDC.
Why did you choose to come to Purdue to study Pharmacy?
In high school, I visited Purdue on a whim because I had already committed to another university's pre-pharmacy program. The professors and staff at Purdue went out of their way to make our pharmacy building feel like home, and it has been ever since!
What year are you in the program?
I am currently a third-year professional student in the College of Pharmacy.
Where are you from?
I am from Orland Park, Illinois, which is about 40 miles south of Chicago.
What has been the most challenging point about school?
The most challenging point about pharmacy school is balancing time. There are so many interesting opportunities to get involved in within the college and its organizations!
What has been the most rewarding?
There are so many opportunities within the college to get involved with the Greater Lafayette Community. Participating in these events and meeting members of the community makes Purdue feel even more like home.
What activities are you involved with and why have you chosen to participate in them?
CPNP Purdue, Career Development Committee, PPEDS
What professional experiences have your participated in in the summers?
This summer I worked at IU Arnett Hospital completing Medication Histories for patient’s in the Emergency Department.
What are your future career aspirations?
Although my career aspirations change on a regular basis, I am becoming more interested in geriatric medicine. I believe this patient population can benefit greatly from pharmacists organizing their medication regimens.
What one piece of advice do you give to younger students in the program?
My one piece of advice to younger students is not to be afraid to introduce yourself to your professors. Your professors are some of your biggest resources in pharmacy school, and they are always open to help students in need or give you more insight to their specialty.
What do you enjoy doing outside of Pharmacy school?
Outside of Pharmacy, I love spending as much time as I can outside. On a sunny day on campus you can always find me sitting at the Engineering Fountain reading a book!
What is your favorite ice cream?
My favorite ice cream is Zoreo from the Silver Dipper!
