Pharmacy Faculty Achievements

September 29, 2017 - Please join the Purdue College of Pharmacy in congratulating the following faculty on their recent achievements.

Dr. Rong Huang, Associate Professor of Medicinal Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology, is the recipient of an award from DHHS to support her project entitled, “Discovery of small molecule inhibitors for protein N-terminal methyltransferase”. This award is supported from August 1, 2017 to July 31, 2018 for $352,275.

Prof. Jane Krause, Clinical Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice, is the recipient of an award from the Drug-Free Coalition of Tippecanoe County to support her project entitled, “Addressing Alcohol and Prescription Drug Abuse/Misuse on Campus: A Continuing Project”. This award is supported from August 1, 2017 to July 31, 2018 for $5,000.

Dr. Brian Overholser, Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice, is the recipient of an award from AACP Research Institute (RI) Futures Grant Program to support his project entitled, “A Mechanistic Analysis of CaMKII Regulation of IKs During Sustained Beta-Adrenergic Stimulation”. This award is supported from September 15, 2017 to September 14, 2018 for $5,000.

Dr. Benita Sjögren, Assistant Professor of Medicinal Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology, is the recipient of an award from the American Heart Association to support her project entitled, “Targeting molecular mechanisms of RGS2 protein degradation for novel cardiovascular therapeutics”. This award is supported from August 14, 2017 to December 31, 2018 for $77,000.

Dr. Richard Van Rijn, Assistant Professor of Medicinal Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology, is the recipient of a new award from DHHS to support his project entitled, “G-protein-, beta-arrestin- and ERK-signaling in alcohol use- and anxiety-disorders”. This award is supported from September 10, 2017 to August 31, 2018 for $338,533.
