Pharmacy Faculty Achievements
October 7, 2016 - Please join the College of Pharmacy in congratulating the following faculty on their recent achievements.
Dr. Mark Cushman, Distinguished Professor of Medicinal Chemistry, has been awarded two new patents entitled, “N-Substituted indenoisoquinolones and syntheses thereof”. Both patents are focused on the development of a class of anticancer compounds.
Dr. Wanqing Liu, Assistant Professor of Medicinal Chemistry, is the receipt of funding as a sub-contract PI on a new U54 award from NIH for a project entitled, “Indiana University Center for Pediatric Pharmacology and Precision Medicine”. Dr. Jamie Renbarger (Indiana University School of Medicine) is the PI. His subcontract is for $310,000 from September 22, 2016 through June 30, 2018. Dr. Liu also received a R01 award from NIH to support his project entitled, “Fatty acid desaturase 1 (FADS1) variants and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.” This award covers September 22, 2016 through July 31, 2021 in the amount of $1,912,508.
Dr. Lynne Taylor, Retter Professor of Pharmacy, PI, and Dr. Tony Zhou, Assistant Professor of Industrial and Physical Pharmacy, Co-PI, are the recipients of a new award from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to support their project entitled, “CMC Pilot Project to Evaluate Novel Drug Product Manufacturing Technologies”. This award is funded from September 30, 2016 through September 30, 2019 in the amount of $673,871.
