Career Highlights
  • Serving as Director of Store Operations, where I collaborated with our corporate teams to bring new and innovative programs and technology to our store and pharmacy teams to enhance the overall customer and patient experience across the country.
  • Leading a collaboration with a healthcare startup within Walgreens to bring together our nurse practitioner-based clinics and our employer health business, while connecting them to our pharmacies around the nation.
  • Developing strategies to allow my region to give back to the individual communities we served through fundraising and volunteerism. One highlight was our Colorado teams that raised over $2.2M for Children’s Hospital Colorado.
  • As a regional vice president, leading large teams focused on pharmacy operations, equipping them with the tools, talent, and support necessary to provide outstanding patient care.
  • Creating strong and lasting relationships with people over my 44-years at Walgreens was the true highlight of my career. Supporting the professional development of my teams allowed me to play an active role in helping them achieve their career goals while also fueling the pipeline of talent needed for a fast-growing company.

Howard Atlas has an accomplished history of leading and developing many diverse and cohesive teams across the country and among multiple business units during his 44-year career at Walgreens. He served in many roles, including district manager, corporate director of store operations and vice president of healthcare integration. Prior to retirement, Howard spent 15 years as regional vice president of several regions and had responsibility for all retail, health care and pharmacy operations across 550 locations and 5 states in the southwestern United States. His responsibilities included store service levels, profit and loss, team and talent development and new business development. He also had additional involvement in real estate, local marketing, human resources, talent recruitment, asset protection, and facilities management.

Howard is passionate about innovative solutions in health care and pharmacy and is committed to making a lasting impact on the future of his community. He is currently an active advisory board member for Monovo Care, a Telehealth company, and RxMapper, a pharmacogenomics company. He is involved in a number of philanthropic programs focused on education and health care.

Howard holds a BS degree in pharmacy from Purdue University and remains an engaged, involved and active alum.
