Colonel Jason J. Lennen is the Command Surgeon (SG) for the Air Force District of Washington (AFDW), headquartered at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland. AFDW is the Air Force component to the Joint Forces Headquarters-National Capital Region and is responsible for organizing, training and equipping combat forces for aerospace expeditionary missions, homeland operations, civil support, national special security events and ceremonial events. AFDW also provides major-command-level support for 33,000 military and civilian personnel assigned to 1,758 units stationed at 500 locations in 108 countries worldwide. Colonel Lennen is the senior medical advisor to the dual-hatted Commander of AFDW and the 320th Air Expeditionary Wing, the Command’s senior staff, and the 316th Medical Group for all health service support policy, plans, engagements, and exercises. He is also responsible to the AFDW Commander for the wartime and contingency response readiness of over 1,000 military medical personnel and 136 unit type codes located at six installations in support of six wings, three headquarters, and over 150 mission partner units. AFDW medics also provide direct support to myriad critical national capabilities, including Presidential and Congressional Special Airlift Missions, and they operate a 45-bed En-Route Patient Staging Facility that serves as the aeromedical evacuation hub for the East Coast to receive wounded, ill, and injured warriors back to the United States.

Colonel Lennen received a direct commission as a second lieutenant and entered the United States Air Force in August 1998. He has been assigned to clinic, ambulatory surgery center, hospital, and medical center locations in a variety of student, staff, instructor, and leadership positions. The colonel is a licensed pharmacist and Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist that has held clinical privileges in both inpatient and outpatient settings. He has deployed twice in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM, commanded a medical operations squadron, served as Deputy Commander and Biomedical Sciences Corps Executive of a medical group, been assigned to four headquarters staff positions, and commanded two medical groups. He has also served on the Board of Directors for the Air Force Biomedical Sciences Corps for the past three years. Prior to his current position, Colonel Lennen was the dual-hatted Commander and Director of the 316th Medical Group and Malcolm Grow Medical Clinics & Surgery Center (MGMCSC) at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland.
