Shirley L. Paddock, BS 1999

Shirley L. Paddock, RPh, MBA has over 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry spanning all phases of drug development. Shirley is currently the SVP, Business Unit Head, at Syneos Health where she oversees the delivery, strategic account planning and overall profitability for one of Syneos’ top tier strategic Big Pharma accounts. Prior to joining Syneos Health, Shirley was the Vice President of Portfolio and Project Management at Liquidia Technologies, a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company.

She served 28 years at Eli Lilly and Company in multiple clinical and integrated drug development product leadership roles, including leading Lilly’s early phase and late phase cross functional project management leaders.

While at Lilly, Shirley spent four years leading the operations for Lilly Chorus, a full-service, autonomous R&D unit within the company that specializes in Lean to Proof-of-Concept clinical development, focused on developing internal drug candidates in the oncology, autoimmune, cardiovascular, diabetes and migraine space. During her tenure in Lilly Chorus, Shirley was also instrumental in the integration and management oversight of several drug development partnerships with venture capital groups, as part of an external funding model.

Shirley has previously served on the Purdue Alumni Board of Directors, various board leadership roles in non-profits focused on education and STEM. She is currently a member of the Purdue University College of Pharmacy Dean’s Advisory Council, the Eshelman Institute for Innovation at the University of North Carolina College of Pharmacy and is the Chair of the Research Triangle Park (RTP) Chapter of Women in Bio (WIB).

Shirley earned her degree in Pharmacy from Purdue University and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. In addition to college football and basketball, Shirley is passionate about coaching and mentoring, reading, travelling, wine education and her four grandchildren.
