Growing up in Wisconsin, Susan Brown’s second grade aspiration was to be an artist. Observing the nursing career of her mother, Susan embraced pharmacy for her professional career.Upon receiving her BS in pharmacy in December 1972, Susan completed Purdue’s Masters Program in Clinical Pharmacy, and an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited residency at Bronson Methodist Hospital.

Susan’s commitment to pharmacy expertise and quality extended beyond central Indiana. She served as President of the Indiana Society of Hospital Pharmacists (ISHP), served on the faculty of ASHP National Institutes, and delivered presentations at the state and national level. She authored a chapter in ASHP’s book Basic Skills in Clinical Pharmacy Practice. She was active on the Board of Directors for the Indiana Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and Indianapolis Coalition for Patient Safety. She received recognition as a Patient Safety Hero and as a finalist for the ASHP Excellence in Medication Use Safety Award.

After 40 years at Franciscan St. Francis Health, Susan retired to Boulder, Colorado, to pursue her interests in painting, quilting, hiking, traveling, and service.
