Dr. John Bomkamp is a 2017 graduate of the Purdue University College of Pharmacy.  After graduation, he completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency at the Oklahoma State University Medical Center and a PGY-2 Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Residency at the Indiana University (IU) Health Academic Health Center. Since finishing his residency, John has served as an Infectious Diseases Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, IN. John maintains board certification as an Infectious Diseases Pharmacist and is credentialed as an HIV Pharmacist through the American Academy of HIV.

At IU Health, John strives to optimize patient care by improving antibiotic use and advocating for patient-centered approaches to pharmacotherapy. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, John has taken on multiple roles to improve treatment of COVID-19 in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.

In addition to his work at IU Health, John serves as a preceptor to pharmacy students and residents affiliated with the Purdue University College of Pharmacy. He has collaborated on a variety of projects, resulting in poster presentations at national conferences as well as peer-reviewed publications. John takes pride in cultivating learners’ interests and challenging them to take their Next Giant Leap.

John lives in West Lafayette, IN with his wife, Leanne, and their two dogs and horses. He and his family are Boilermakers through and through with his wife, mother, and uncle being Purdue University graduates.
