On this Purdue Day of Giving, the College of Pharmacy is excited to announce a generous commitment from Chris and Theresa Dimos to establish a termed-naming of the Director position in the Center for Health Equity and Innovation (CHEqI).

“We are so grateful to Chris and Theresa for their gift to advance the work in the Center for Health Equity and Innovation. This truly will allow the Center to move to the highest level of impact as we seek to address social barriers to healthcare, especially in the Indianapolis area. It’s clear that this work is a passion for Chris and Theresa, and we are thrilled to have their support,” said Dean Eric Barker.

The growing presence of CHEqI in the Indianapolis-area was of particular interest to Chris and Theresa. Having both grown up in Indiana, and Theresa in Indianapolis, the Dimos family is deeply committed to the work of combating homelessness and underserved population inequities in their community. This gift will be an initial way to help Dr. Jasmine Gonzalvo and her team enhance their Central Indiana priorities.

Dr. Gonzalvo will serve as the Chris and Theresa Dimos Director. She is a Clinical Professor of Pharmacy Practice in the College of Pharmacy. She began working with the CHEqI in February 2020. CHEqI’s mission is addressing the needs of underserved populations locally and globally. The vision for the Center is to reduce health inequity through innovative strategies.

“As pharmacists, enhancing access to healthcare is our mission. We are committed to investing our time, talent, and treasures to focus on making a difference in people’s lives,” said Chris.

The termed-naming of the Directorship is slated to begin in August 2021.
